Course Description

The Personal Watercraft (PWC) Course in New South Wales (NSW) is designed to equip individuals with the necessary knowledge and practical skills to operate a jet ski or other PWC safely and in compliance with maritime regulations. This course is a critical step in obtaining your PWC licence.

You can’t have a PWC license without first having a boat licence and most people usually find it is much easier to just do both at the same time.

Because of that we offer a discount to do both courses on the one day. You walk in at the beginning of the day with nothing but enthusiasm for getting out on the water and leave in the afternoon having done all of the training and exams required to get both your boat licence and your PWC / Jet Ski licence.

If you think you might want to do the Jet Ski Course down the track then now is the perfect time to do it while the information is fresh in.

Steps To Getting Your Licence

While the format of the day may change due to weather or other circumstances we usually start the day at 9am where we will meet at the boat ramp or marina and begin with a fun practical session. We then stop for a break before starting our theory session which is followed by the knowledge test.

Upon successfully completing the general boat safety training and passing the test, you will be eligible to apply for your licence with Service NSW.

You will receive a completed application form during the course, which you will need to present at Service NSW along with the appropriate licence fee.

You have your licence.

About the Exam

Boat Licence Exam

  • 50 multiple-choice questions.
  • The first 20 questions must be answered correctly of the remaining 30 questions,
    you must get at least 24 correct.

PWC Exam

  • 15 multiple-choice questions.
  • You must get 12 correct answers.
  • If you don’t pass on the first try, you can retake the exam immediately. A second failure allows you to resit the test at a later date at any of our courses or at our office, free of charge.
  • If you need additional training, you’re welcome to attend any of our theory seminars at no extra cost.
